Understanding different types of carpet

Cut pile carpet - A cut pile carpet is denser and softer than a loop pile carpet. It also has many different characteristics. Soft, twisted, tall, or thick cable fibers are just some of the characteristics of cut pile carpets. Cut pile carpets are an excellent choice for high-traffic areas. When considering a carpet, there are four different types to look at: textured, plush, Saxony, and frieze.

Loop pile carpet - Loop pile carpet is a durable and less-sensitive alternative to cut pile carpet. The loops of fiber are woven together, creating a shorter pile that won’t show footprints or vacuum marks. Loop pile carpet isn’t quite as soft as cut pile, but it is great in high-traffic areas and is easy to clean and maintain.
